Captain Barry McKie
"Captain Barry McKie has worked in the Equine industry in Great Britain and America for the past 45-years. For 26-years, he served in Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth's Household Cavalry. During which, he successfully completed in Dressage, Show Jumping, and Eventing, at both military and civilian competitions.
Aside from his military duties, Captain McKie traveled throughout the world choreographing equine displays for Dignitaries and Heads of State. He also donated his time to help others create display teams, one of which was the work famous Pony Club Gymnastic Display Team, which comprised of children from 8-15yrs, performing at equine events throughout Europe to much acclaim.
In 1990, the McKie family moved to Florida, where Captain McKie accepted to position as Director of Entertainment for Arabian Nights. Where he used his knowledge of choreographing, oversaw the administration, and instruction of the 36 performers and the training of 90 horses.
In 1993, the McKies relocated to Altoona, FL, where Captain McKie managed Fiddler's Green Ranch, The National Mounted Training Group's Equestrian Center & Guest Ranch. In addition, Barry traveled, as Riding Master to the NMTG, promoting and training equestrian skills to mounted law enforcement officers and posse members throughout the USA.
In 1998, McKie Equine Communication Skill's was established, offering horse training from ground work to starting uder saddle onto competitive riding. With riding instruction from beginner through advanced. Both training and instruction is taught using a modernized classical seat theory, which allows MECS to successfully offer their services to all disciplines.
MECS was created with the idea of promoting horsemanship and horse mastership from A to Z for all levels of equestrians. Using a non-aggressive approach to the communication between horse and rider through the logical breakdown of the rider's use and understanding of movement. Effictively producing the tempo, harmony, and rhythm for the translation of any command.
The McKie's have also been working with troubled children for 16yrs, helping them to understand and control their emotions through the therapeutic relationship and communication skills they acquire from their contact with the horse."
